Hello :)

I'm thinking about getting a NSX in May/early June.... I would like a new as possible RHD manual for under 20k.

UK cars still seem to be holding value which is good, so it seems quite a hard task to get a manual nice one for the price above. Quite like the yellow one for sale on PistonHeads, but it just a smidgen over budget, but seems quite cheap for a 96 model... and i really want a black one :/

JDM import (pre 96) - Any specific model diferences worth noting, engine/trany difference? Had a look at a few auctions tonight and there looks to be a small saving (quite small) importing yourself. What are re-sale (UK) vales like for the imported cars? Do they go for much less than a orig UK one?

Any links to buying guides, and general insurance ideas...? (26, 7ys NCD, no points, garaged)

I've checked out the sticky for buying but all forum links seemed dead, and the other info.... while useful was mostly US based.

JDM manual models have shorter gears for 2nd, 3rd & 4th (thats a good thing by the way :D ) - no other signifiacnt differences

Hi Adam,

If you use the search engine on the site, the topic of JDM import has been discussed. The conclusion is that as the car is still highly respected in Japan, there is very little saving to be made, especially once you add shipping, taxes, delimiting etc.

What I have noticed is that you may have a bigger choice of cars in generally good condition. For example there is what appears to be a Type Zero (JDM only) in white for circa £25k.

I've no idea what impact the JDM would have on resale value. I'm sure there are a few owners here that may be able to offer an insight??

If you travel to Europe regularly and fancy a LHD, then maybe check out NSX prime?

Happy hunting

This one won't be for sale for much longer - I'm due to pick it up in the next few days. It is just having a few odd jobs done and it will be mine.

It's taken a bit of time and I've viewed 5 cars but I believe I've now found the right one for me. Fingers crossed.

Is the green / blue type R still for sale (it's in the UK) price seemed reasonable last time I heard it. Would be easier than importing from Japan.

Then again, would be a nice excuse for a trip out there, only way I would buy a car from Japan. (Well £20k plus car)

The white type S (if the badge is true as listing doesn't mention it) is a grade 5.0 (almost new) but has had both front wings replaced ?? Always makes me nervous.

I think there are very few black NSXs around. I've seen one on this website but none on the road.

Black do seem to be in the minority unless you fancy an Auto?

Could an Auto be modified to a Manual (by replacing the whole transmission)? Or would it make more sense to buy a manual and get it painted?

ok..... worked out how to reply now :? Cookies were being rejected, although i hadnt changed my settings :? anyhoooo 8)

Yup, saw the silver on AT... looks good....

But i'm under strict instructions that my new car must be black - I have learned its easiest to obey.

(i think its the nicest colour too, but i'd also consider red.... When i think NSX i think red for some reason)

So..... if anyone knows of a black one for sale (man coupe, targa) could you let me know please :)

Adam

How old a car are you looking for? Do you mind something modified (a bit)?

I could be tempted to sell mine (1992, 50k miles)

...listens to the gasps of horror from the NSXCB patronage......

as new as possible, but i'm not saying it must be a 95 etc...

I'm willing to consider all options..... as long as the price is good.

Modified - Its just mild modifications isnt it? This the one in the vid going round Spa? Got the std rear spoiler anywhere?

I'll go check out your threads for specs etc.

Kevin if you leave the fold and sell it then first dibs on the type R wheels please. (Don't do it though, unless to buy a type R / 3.2)
