View Full Version : 3g Brakes ?? Anyone heard of them

So, still looking for brake discs. Yes I am bored of it as well.

So I was going to put NSX-R discs on, but at £1600 I really can't justify it.

Black Diamond, no they aren't a different size to 3.0 litre ?? (After speaking to Black Diamond and motormania.)

Brembo, only listed as GT big brake upgrade kits with new calipers.

3G ?? They seem promising, only list them for the 3.2, offer 10 grooves, 20 grooves or dimpled as well. Also black or gold anodizing to stop corrosion. Never heard of them.
BUT they list as.....

But if Brembo don't make them in the OEM size ???

Another option for you.

Whilst at the racing car show in Jan this year i spoke with the chaps at Monster Brakes. On the front of their catalogue there was a picture of the NSX that they made a "Monster Brake" kit for, so it might be an idea to contact them as well.

BTW what is your buying criteria?

I visited the Monster brake place the other day for some ATE Blue brake fluid. I bought way too much by the way so if you need any let me know.

Anyway they are called Hispec and have a website. They are based in Dartford Kent, just off the M25.

Don't expect some flashy big operation, they occupy a dank industrial unit, but the kit they have inside is very impressive indeed.

They make everything in house so no worrying about where the stuff comes from.

The front brake kit seen on the NSX on their cover is only £1060 for floating discs/calipers etc but they were unsure about it fitting under standard wheels. Apparently the NSX owner is returning shortly for a rear kit with their unique handbrake mechanism.

They are well worth talking to about discs Simon

Do a search on here for my experience with hispec.

I'm not going back for a rear kit.

If you want to buy something and then wait a year, and listen to stories as to why nothing ever gets done, then go there.

Interested to know where pictures have come from showing an NSX kit.

Any details on it?

Ive ordered some Endless pads front and rear for mine based on their reputation with the Evo/Skyline.

Unfortunatley the criteria for new brakes for me is....

Must be able to use standard wheels.
Must use stock calipers.

the car on the 2006 parts book is mine.....the same car that was at plansmotorsport kevin...red one, I gave them my car for a jig.....and 1 month later front kit......yes they have made a rear kit with hand brake for the car....I have only used it for fast road so I can't comment on track use...cost wise its a lot less than "ap"....but if money was not an object I would buy "ap's"...as i have before, the reason I used this kit was as an up-grade to bring the standard brakes into line with the rest of the car....a kind of "club sport" up-grade...the feel is much better and yes they are a great improvement on the oem gear which is with-out a doubt very old fashioned.It won't fit under oem wheels.

What is the details of your kit? I wonder if it is the same as they did for mine?

They made yours in 1 month? Took them almost a year to come up with something that didn't fit for me.

I can comment on track use. They were fine for the first 5 days. The steering wheel shudders now something cronic under hard braking.

spec for kit......looks similar to yours....can't be to sure....I have after market wheels....so 17s at front all seems to fit fine....I have always "run-in new brakes (ap's always on evo and scoob's) got them good and hot then had them "trued" or miled....kind of heat cure process i guess...then as a rule they are fine...if I get steer wobbles this is what I will do rears going on very soon ...busy working at mo...so I'll let you know...I feel the kit should be viewed as " modernising" rather than say race/track...as ap's are sure to fit the bill better for long term....i guess you get what you pay for.....hi-spec value for the money they cost....oh and i live 20 mins from them and 170 miles from ap!!!!!...cheers
